Biography

Mr Connell graduated from University College Dublin in 1997 and pursued his ophthalmic surgery training In Ireland under the auspices of the Royal College of Surgeons and Irish College of Ophthalmologists. Following completion of a Masters of Medical Science, Mr Connell commenced 10 years of ophthalmic surgical training, with 2 overseas sub-speciality fellowships in Bristol Eye Hospital and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear in Melbourne in medical and surgical retina. His was appointed as a consultant in Melbourne in 2009 and following 2 years returned to take up a consultant post in Ireland in 2011. He has published extensively with over 45 peer reviewed publications and has attracted major grant support. He is a reviewer for 8 international ophthalmic journals.  His sub-specialty interests include medical and surgical retina and cataract.
