ECG Department
 

The ECG Department carries out the following procedures ECG’s, Stress ECG’s and permanent pacemaker follow-ups.

  • ECG’s are electrocardiographs which measure the action of the heart muscle for inpatients and outpatients. Access - this is a walk in service between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily except Tuesday. Patients must have a by GP referral letter.

  • Exercise Stress Test - examines how well the heart copes with exercise. The test can show if there is a lack of blood supply through the arteries that supply the heart. It also helps doctors know the level of exercise appropriate for an individual. Access - Patients are referred to this service when under the care of a Mater Consultant usually a Cardiologist.
