The National Centre for Inherited Metabolic Disorders provides assessment and treatment to adults with inherited metabolic disorders.
The adult metabolic service in the Mater Hospital provides multidisciplinary care for patients with known or suspected metabolic disorders. These disorders include phenylketonuria (PKU), galactosemia and lysosomal disease. We help patients to manage their conditions with optimal diets that match their metabolic needs.
We work as part of a team that specialise in assessing and treating metabolic disorders. This team includes two consultant physicians, a clinical nurse specialist, dieticians and medical social workers.
Adult patients with suspected metabolic disorders can be referred by a GP or a specialist consultant. Please send referrals to the address below. Please include a medical summary and records of past medical history for patients with known metabolic disorders.
