Cardiac Rehabilitation
Introduction:
The Mater University Hospital has a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation programme in operation since October 1993. It is an out-patient programme which takes place some weeks after discharge from hospital.
Who can benefit:
This facility is available for people who have had a cardiac illness, either medical or surgical. (e.g. heart attack, angioplasy/ stent, coronory artery bypass grafts, heart valve surgery, heart transplant).
Aims of the Programme:
Our aim is to help the individual to return to their best possible physical, mental, occupational and social potential.
What the Programme involves:
Monitored exercise sessions will take place for 1 hour, 3 times a week, over an 8 week period or twice a week for 10 weeks. There will be a talk once a week.
