Rheumatology

Our multidisciplinary team cares for patients with arthritis, musculoskeletal and rheumatologic disorders.

Our service

The rheumatology service manages complex rheumatological disorders. We can administer drugs by injection and/or infusion. We also provide joint aspiration and injection and soft tissue injections. The service also offers joint fluid analysis by polarised light microscopy to confirm diagnosis of crystal-induced arthritis such as gout.

What type of conditions do we treat?

  • Inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis
  • Rheumatological disorders such as lupus, vasculitis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Crystal deposition diseases such as gout
  • Complicated osteoarthritis

We have a dedicated team that includes doctors and clinical nurse specialists. Our service works very closely with other health and social care professionals including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and our radiology colleagues for diagnosis and treatment.
