Nurse Education and Training CNE Vision and Values
The CNE welcomes diverse cultures, ideas and perspectives. We are committed to ongoing self-examination/reflection amongst the teaching staff. Learners on our programme(s) are recognised as practicing professionals within their own disciplines. The learner is viewed as an active participant, responsible for his/her learning and development, thus the teaching staff perceive their role as facilitating this process. In tandem, an environment of openness, respect, collaboration and empowerment is facilitated not only for the learners, but staff and stakeholders.
The CNE aims to provide high quality learning experiences for the learners to enable them to achieve the knowledge, skills, competence, confidence and accountability, to provide safe, efficient and effective care for their patients/clients. The provision of an environment that encourages critical reflection and personal/professional development mirrors the mission statement of the Hospital and vision and values of the CNE.
The teaching and learning methodologies adopted emphasise and focus on the integration and application of knowledge to practice. Emphasis is on enabling the learner pursue continued professional development. To accommodate different learning styles, a range of teaching methodologies are adopted, such as lecture presentation, scenario based workshops, tutorials, group work and elearning. Reflective portfolios are encouraged and facilitated. Websites such as An Bord Altranais, HSE and the Hospital’s intranet are accessed as appropriate.
The Centre for Nurse Education acknowledges that quality assurance and enhancement derives from an ethos of service to our learners. The CNE continuously undertakes analytical, reflective evaluation using appropriate educational benchmarks & performance indicators to monitor and improve teaching standards.
