There is a coffee shop in the main concourse for visitor use only.

Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:15pm (take out until 5:45pm)
Saturday and Sunday 12:00pm – 5:00pm
Newsagent
There is a newsagent in the main hospital concourse, which sells cards, magazines etc. You must get permission from the nurse in charge before you leave the ward.

Public Telephones
There are call card payphones in the main concourse. Use of mobile/cellular phones is prohibited within the confines of the hospital as their use may interfere with sensitive life-saving equipment.
Postal Service
Incoming letters are delivered to the wards daily. Letters and parcels should be addressed as follows:

Volunteer Service.
We run a volunteer service in the Mater Hospital and we welcome applicants from all walks of life.
All volunteers are subject to the standard recruitment procedures and adhere to the hospital confidentiality policy.
Volunteers are valued at our hospital; and their roles can be broadly defined as follows:
- Visiting in-patients, interacting with them and providing social contact
- Arranging flowers, writing letters, errands, reading
- Providing a free library at ward level
- Assisting patients at out-patient clinics
