Speciality / Service:	The HDU operates as a direct referral Unit for post-op surgical patients and is also a step-down Unit for ICU patients who remain too unwell for a return to a normal hospital ward.
No. of Beds:	The HDU has 13 beds
Description:	The HDU and ICU work very close together to progress those very unwell patients back to a normal ward environment. In general the HDU provides 1:2 nursing care. Similar to ICU, staff look after some of the sickest patients in the hospital and can be extremely busy.
