Biography

Prof Gavin Blake (MD FRCPI MPH MSc) was appointed consultant cardiologist with interest in interventional cardiology at the Mater in 2003. He graduated from RCSI with a first class honours degree and holds research degrees from both Oxford and Harvard Universities. Following initial post-graduate cardiology training in the Mater he completed both clinical and interventional cardiology fellowships at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston. He subsequently joined the cardiology faculty at the Brigham prior to his return to the Mater. He is currently clinical lead for the Acute Coronary Syndromes program in Dublin/North East. His research interests include novel risk factors for coronary artery disease and clinical outcomes post coronary interventions.
