Dr. Michelle Murray

Biography

Dr. Michelle Murray graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with an honours degree and completed her early respiratory clinical training at Beaumont Hospital, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and Mercy University Hospital in Cork. In 2010, Dr. Murray was awarded an Irish Thoracic Society fellowship to complete her research MD  in “ The Role of  Anaerobic Bacteria in Cystic Fibrosis Lung Disease”. This work led to high impact publications in  American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and European Respiratory Journal. Dr. Murray, was a Clinical Lecturer in Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland from 2010-2012 and also was awarded a Masters in Clinical Education in National University of Ireland, Galway.

Dr. Murray successfully completed a multi-organ transplant fellowship with subspecialisation in lung transplantation in the prestigious Toronto General Hospital, the world’s biggest multi-organ and lung transplant centre. She was awarded her fellowship from the University of Toronto in 2017. Dr. Murray also undertook a CF fellowship in St. Michael’s Hospital Toronto and was involved in several research projects there. She was co-lead in Toronto for the US Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Quality Improvement Consortium at improving transition from CF to lung transplant centres and organised a benchmarking  site visit in Toronto for 10 academic US CF and Lung Transplant Centres in June 2018. She was short listed in October 2018 for a junior investigator award at the North American CF conference for her project on “ Conditional Survival Analysis of People with Cystic Fibrosis in Canada”. Dr. Murray worked as a Transplant Respirologist in Toronto General Hospital until her appointment in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin in August 2018. She currently is working as a Consultant Respiratory Physician subspecialising  in Lung Transplantation and as a Clinical Lecturer and Assistant Professor of Medicine in University College, Dublin.
