Biography:

Lars grew up in Killarney where he went to to primary and secondary school in St Brendan’s College.  He then studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and graduated with Honours in 1993. He completed Basic Surgical training and subsequently Higher Surgical Training in cardiothoracic surgery in Ireland in 2003.

He then worked as Visiting Ass. Prof at UCSF Children’s Hospital in San Francisco 2003-2005, where he also participiated in the heart and lung transplantation program, before being appointed as consultant cardiothoracic and transplantation surgeon at the MMUH in 2005.

MB, BCh, BAO, LRCP&SI, MMedSc, FRCS C-Th, DSM, HDip Quality of Healthcare
 

Current Appointments:     

Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in the Prof E O’Malley, National cardiothoracic and Heart / Lung transplantation Unit and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Responsible Person / Head of the National Heart Valve Bank in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

Responsible Person / Head of the Heart and Lung Transplantation Program in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

Clinical Director of the Extra-Corporeal Life Support Program in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Deputy RP at Organ Donation Transplantation Ireland (ODTI)
