Biography

Dr Michael Marnane MB MSc PhD MRCPI is a consultant Neurologist at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and the Dublin Neurological Institute. He is Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at University College Dublin with academic interests including vascular, cognitive and general neurology, and quality improvement science and application. He is the Clinical Director of Quality and Patient Safety at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

He completed cognitive neurology fellowship training at the University of British Columbia Hospital, Vancouver, Canada, and vascular neurology fellowship training at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. He was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by University College Dublin for work focussed on novel strategies to identify unstable atherosclerosis. He was awarded a Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and a Master of Science degree by the European Stroke Organisation. He is a current member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and the European Stroke Organisation.
