Dr Raymond Carson is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital / Clinical Lecturer at University College Dublin. He holds the Diploma in Cerebrovascular and Stroke Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Ireland, Edinburgh and Glasgow. At the Mater Hospital Dr Carson provides an acute rehabilitation consultation service for adult patients of all ages. He has a particular interest in neurological rehabilitation of acquired brain injury (including stroke and traumatic brain injury), spasticity management and neuro-palliative care. Dr Carson leads a multidisciplinary in-patient rehabilitation service at Cappagh Hospital where he also runs a regular outpatient clinic. In addition he has a regular sessional commitment at the National Rehabilitation Hospital where he is establishing a transitional clinic for young adults with acquired brain injury.
Dr Carson is the Lead Trainer for the RCPI Basic Specialist Training Programme at Cappagh Hospital where he supervises medical senior house officers on the Mater scheme. He is an active clinical examiner for the postgraduate Membership examinations of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
